After a long weekend of house hunting, ring shopping, and being so overwhelmed that we often retreated into Sim City and Spider Solitaire, Ross asked Helen to marry him. And she said, "Yes."
Helen: I noticed this evening that the ring Ross gave me for Christmas wasn't with my other rings, and thought Simon (destructa-cat) must have knocked it down behind the dresser. But when I got to Ross' house, I suddenly thought "A-ha. I bet Ross took it..." I was pretty sure that I was right, so sure, in fact, that when he brought me a cup of tea, I half thought that the ring might be in there.
Ross: I pocketed the ring this morning, thinking Helen wouldn't notice. I don't know what possessed me to bring the ring downstairs, but I did it. And then Helen kept asking probing questions, and I knew the gig was up. Surprise was no longer possible. When I accepted that, the rest was easy.
Helen: In the end, I was sitting on the floor with Ross rubbing my shoulders.
Ross: I reached around to hug her, and then I said I had an important question to ask her.
When asked about their plans, the couple hoped that people would be available in the summer of 2005 for a wedding. Further details are not yet available.
